Tacky? um... in my opinion, not at all. Just an online version of that pretty little white box with the envelope slit in the top...sitting there trying desperately not to stand out and just blend in with the other presents on the gift table. Selfish? For me, this would only come across as selfish if it came out of the blue. But as a wedding registry idea, where people are planning to spend a few hard earned dollars on you anyways, it seems logical and "UN"selfish to provide them with ideas for things you ACTUALLY NEED, rather than the toaster, blender, dish towel sets that you need like a hole in the head!! Yes, I do agree that it may feel a little awkward to post your bills for all to see, but debt is no secret...neither is the expenses involved in planning a wedding... So I say, GO FOR IT! After all, the only people that would be seeing it would be those that love you enough to be thinking what to get you for a gift...so why not be honest and let them know what would be most useful!! I agree this wouldn't be for everyone, but if my honey and I were waiting until it was more financially feasible to get married (which might be a long time coming in this economy,) I wouldn't care what anyone thought about my unconventional registry choice. It beats collecting soda cans, as another couple is doing online to get enough cash for their wedding. And I imagine that, when family and friends see this registry choice, not only would they be impressed by my clever solution to a common problem, they might sign up for the registry themselves!
